Welcome to our home "Mommy to Be"...Our doors are always open while you WAIT for the delivery of your beautiful NEW LIFE...We will INVEST in you and your unborn child... We will NURTURE your development as you embrace your new role as "Mother".... We will walk alongside you as you GROW and develop your independance and learn to SOAR on your own and help you to get established into your own nest.
WINGS Maternity Home is a Christian organization located in the Durham Region established in February 2009. It is a safe home for young women in need of a loving & nurturing environment during their time of pregnancy and up until their baby is 6 months old.
Our Mission is to shelter and educate homeless, pregnant and parenting young women by assisting in providing comprehensive services that empower them to make successful life decisions for themselves and their babies.
Our home provides food, clothing, individual counseling and help to facilitate a way for the girls to receive medical care, childbirth/parenting classes, mandatory participation in education or job training, practical life skills lessons and independent living skills training.
W.I.N.G.S. Home mandate is to help the "mommy to be" break the potential negative cycle associated with teen pregnancy: Abortion, High risk births with premature and low birth-weight babies, Interrupted education, repeat teen pregnancy, Poverty, Dependence on public assistance and Child abuse and neglect in the next generation.
We also liason with other charitable, non-profit community and government agencies and organizations to improve the quality of life of these young women by referral to, or help in creating new solutions if a need arises for supportive services.
