Marion Cozens is Awarded the Leading Women, Building Communities Provincial Award

May 29th was a special day for Marion Cozens, Executive Director of WINGS Maternity Home.

Marion was presented the Leading Women Building Communities Award by Ajax Pickering MPP Joe Dickson alongside Pastor Doug Schneider of the Embassy Church in Oshawa.

Honorable Tracy MacCharles, Minister Responsible for Women's Issues, wrote this commendation to WINGS and Marion, stating, "Through WINGS you have provided young pregnant women with not just a home but also love and nurturing.  Your kindness and wide range of assistance have transformed these women, giving them hope, support and opportunities to move forward with their lives. Thanks to your efforts, they can take flight with WINGS to be the best mothers and best people they can be."

Congratulations to Marion Cozens for this prestigious award! Thank you to the entire WINGS Community who share this award with Marion by your selfless service, giving and support.  Together we are changing lives forever.

WINGS Goes Green and Spring Cleans with Christian Life Centre!

As part of healthy living, WINGS has gone green!  Using essential oils and non chemical products, WINGS is transforming their home into a chemical free zone!

Just in time for summer, Farmer Paul Svetec joined the WINGS Moms and Marion and planted their own organic veggies and herbs in the back yard.

To add to the party, a team of awesome volunteers from Christian Life Centrejoined WINGS this past Saturday to clean up, spruce up and green up the back yard with flowers, plants and a good spring cleaning!

Thanks Pastor Sam Sibley for supporting WINGS with this amazing team from CLC!

To finish off the spring cleaning, the WINGS Moms, Volunteers and Interns all hauled, packed, sorted and cleaned two sheds and the blessing room.

Marion is overjoyed to have a boy clothes shed and a girl clothes shed all organized.

We are overjoyed that this community is so generous, it has taken a week of work to just address the overflow of clothes!

We value every one of you for all you give, serve and donate. Together, WINGS is changing the world, one life at a time.

WINGS Bids Farewell to Lead Teacher and Marion's Assistant, Jenny Svetec

Jenny Svetec is moving to Montreal with her family this month.  To bid Jenny farewell, Marion and the WINGS Moms and Volunteers and NEST Students all threw her a beautiful backyard BBQ Party like none other.

Jenny was thrilled and surprised by this unexpected celebration of love. Jenny has volunteered as a teacher at the WINGS NEST School for the past eighteen months and just finished a six month contract as Marion's Assistant.

Jenny wishes to express her heartfelt thanks to all the students and WINGS Moms, to the volunteers and especially to Marion, for this beautiful surprise.  Much joy, tears and laughter abounded long into the evening, as WINGS Maternity Home bid a fond farewell to their beloved teacher and friend.
